ESSA National Primary Schools Swimming Relays 2025

Over the weekend, four of Bromsgrove Prep School’s top swimmers - Rory T, Harry B, Ben W, and Lucas Y - represented the School at the prestigious ESSA National Primary Schools Swimming Relays, held at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge.

Competing in the U11 category, the boys delivered exceptional performances in both the Freestyle and Medley Relay events. Their hard work and determination paid off spectacularly, with the team securing third place nationally in the Medley Relay, an incredible achievement that ranks them as the third fastest medley relay team in the country.

Even more impressively, in the Freestyle Relay, the boys swam the race of their lives to finish second in the country, earning them the title of national runners-up in this event.

Adding to their phenomenal achievements, the boys also broke School records. They shattered the Freestyle Relay record, which had stood since 2019, and - most remarkably - they broke the record for the Medley Relay, which had remained unchallenged at Bromsgrove since 1999.

Overall, the boys’ combined performance across both events today places them as the second fastest relay team in the country. A truly remarkable accomplishment.

A huge congratulations to Rory, Harry, Ben and Lucas for their historic achievement and for representing Bromsgrove School with such pride and excellence.
